  I've been going to Crosscut ever since I moved to Portland, some 33 years ago. Actually, except in a pinch, it's the only place I go. Nice selection of hardwoods, both domestic and foreign. As well, it's unusual not to find a good number of boards in any given species, from which to hand pick. As with their parent store, Emerson, up the street, it's a great place to do business with. The counter people, at both places, are great.
